How to convert MP3 files and other audio files with Audio Converter 4dots

Audio Converter 4dots is very easy to use. Simply follow the following three steps.

How to add files

You can select the input audio files by pressing the "Add File(s)" button or the "Add Folder" button. You can also add input files by dragging and dropping the audio files to the application.

If you press the "Add Folder" button all audio files that are in the selected folder will be added.

You can also add the audio files of the subfolders when you select "Yes" when you are asked to add audio files of subfolders also.

How to specify output format and other output settings

Select the target output format MP3, FLAC, M4A, WMA e.t.c. at the "OUTPUT" section and also the quality profile.

Moreover, you can also set output encoding settings such as bitrate, sampling rate, audio channels, encode mode e.t.c.

How to edit metadata

Afterwards, you can also edit metadata that will have all added audio files at the tab "Metadata for All" or edit metadata for each individual audio file at the tab "Metadata Clip".

Check the option "Copy Metadata from Source" to copy the metadata from the original audio file.

You can also copy the metadata from another audio file by checking the option "Copy Metadata from Other Audio File" and the press the "Browse" button to select the audio file.

Check the options "Write ID3v2 Tag" and "Write ID3v2.3 Tag" if you want to display the album art in Windows Explorer e.t.c.

How to set sophisticated encoding settings such as ABR for MP3 format

Audio Converter 4dots is one of the few audio converters where you can set sophisticated encoding settings such as ABR for MP3, use joint stereo e.t.c.

You can access these settings at the "Extended" tab.

Each format has its own sophisticated encoding settings. Press the "Reset" button to reset them.

How to edit the album art of the audio files

You can edit the album art of the audio files at the tab "Album Art".

Check the option "Copy from Source" to copy the album art from the original audio file.

Check the option "Use other Image" to use another image and then press the "Browse" button to select the image.

If you want to use the specified album art for all audio files check the option "Use these Settings for all clips".

How to specify the output folder

You can specify the output folder at the lower left side of the screen.

You can select from the combobox the value "Same as Input File", "Subfolder of Input File" or your Windows Music folder.

Press the "Browse" button to select a specific other folder and you can also press the "Open" button to open the output folder.

How to convert the audio files

After you have added the audio files and specified the encoding and additional options press the "Convert" button and the conversion will start and finish soon.

How to auto shutdown, hibernate, sleep, exit e.t.c. after the conversion has finished

In order to auto shutdown the computer, or to hibernate, sleep, exit the application check the checkbox on the lower right corner of the screen and select the desired action after the conversion has finished.

How to cut MP3 or other audio files

After you have added the audio file and selected it press on the "Cut" button and the "Cut Screen" will appear.

Here you can view the waveform of the audio file.

You can specify the start and end time of the cut by selecting the area of the waveform with the mouse.

Additionally, you can specify the "Start Time" and "End Time" by entering the time values in the appropriate text boxes.

You can preview the result by pressing the "Play" button.

You can also zoom in the waveform or zoom into the selection and then specify the start and end time with more detail.

After you have finished, press the "OK" button.

The cutting process is not finished yet. Press the "Convert" button to finish the cut process.

How to join MP3 or other audio files

To join MP3 or other audio files, first add them.

Move up or move down the audio files of the join according to your desired order by selecting "Move Up" or "Move Down" from the "Edit" menu or by pressing Ctrl - Shift - Up and Ctrl - Shift - Down.

You can also sort them based on filename, length, date and metadata such as artist, album , date by selecting "Sort By" from the "Edit" menu.

After you have sorted them in the order you want select them on the grid while holding the Control or Shift key and press the "Join" button.

Then a "join" icon will be displayed on their rows of the grid and all the members of the join will have a specific row background color to indicate that they are part of the join.

The mp3 join process has not finished yet. Press the "Convert" button to finish the audio join process.

How to rip CD

Audio Converter 4dots can also rip CDs.

In order to do that, first place the CD in the dvd drive and wait for the cd drive to be ready and stop reading.

Then press the "Rip CD" button and a new screen will appear.

Afterwards, check the tracks you want to rip and then press the "OK" button and wait for the application to rip the CD.

Lastly, press the "Convert" button to finish the CD ripping process.

How to check the converted audio files

Play converted mp3 file

To check the converted audio files right click on them in the grid and select "Play Converted File".

The inbuilt player will play the converted file. You can also play the input file.

Also you can, by right-clicking on an audio file in the grid and then selecting "Explore File" or "Explore Converted File", open the audio file or the converted file in Windows Explorer.

How to edit the output profile

You can edit the output profile settings. You can specify the bitrate, sampling rate, a number of audio channels, volume control, encode mode, vbr quality, and the metadata. After you have specified the profile properties press the "Save" button if you want to save changes.

To create a new profile press the "New" button, then specify its name and its properties and press the "Save" button after you have set its settings.

How to normalize the converted audio files

To normalize an individual audio file select "Yes" for the "Normalize" encoding option or "Yes for All Clips" to normalize all audio files.

Moreover, you have to press the "Convert" button in the end.

How to fade in fade out audio files

In order to fade in fade out an individual audio file select "Yes" for the option "Fade In Fade Out" of the encoding settings or select "Yes for All Clips" to fade in fade out all added audio files.

You can set fade duration and whether to fade in or fade out by selecting "Fade in Fade Out Optons" from the "Options" menu.

How to apply audio effects on audio files

You can also apply audio effects such as tempo, flanger, highpass, lowpass, echo on audio files.

In order to do that, select "Yes" for the encoding option "Effects" and in the new screen that will appear check each effect you want to apply.

You can edit the options for the audio effects or even directly set the FFMPEG args for the effects by pressing the "More Options" button and then editing the text of the text box.

Check the option "Apply this Effect on All Clips" on the lower left side of the screen to apply the specified effects on all added audio files.

To finish the process you have to afterwards press the "Convert" button.

How to record audio

You can also record audio with Audio Converter 4dots.

You can record audio from the microphone or system audio or other input devices.

In order to do that, press the "Record" button and then in the new screen that will appear select the input device.

There you can specify also other recording options such as stereo or mono, volume e.t.c.

You can also check the option "Show Countdown" to show a countdown before the recording starts.

Moreover, you also check the option "Maximum Recording Time" to specify the recording time.

Additionally, you can use the hotkeys F9 to start or pause the recording and F10 to stop the recording.

This is useful in case you want to record an audio from a website or other application.

Simply, set the maximum recording time to the time length of the audio clip.

Then go to your website or application press the F9 hotkey to start the countdown and when the countdown finishes press the play button on the website or application.

The recording will stop automatically or press the F10 hotkey.

How to import playlists

To import a playlist press the "Import List" button. Audio Converter 4dots can import M3U,M3U8,PLS,XSPF,ASX,TXT,CSV format type playlists.

How to change user interface language

When the application is first started it asks you for your desired user interface language.

You can also change the user interface language from the "Language" menu.

How to Register and Buy the application
